Engineer is one step away from millions of customers, delivering
top-tier entertainment on a daily basis. The successful candidate will
have a thorough understanding of software product build/release
concepts and practices, excellent technical knowledge and exceptional
customer service skills.
Responsibilities
Work directly with external partners and internal Steam Publishing team
(legal, marketing, support) to release games, game updates, and
promotions on Steam
Own the technical side of daily Steam game releases, including writing
and compiling code to modify install scripts and support new features Communicate and work with publishers to prepare their Steam releases Utilize Valve’s internal tools to prepare game packages and other products for release
Define and add new features to internal tools, install scripts, and the
Steam client as necessary to serve individual game releases Manage third-party product keys for all games on Steam Work with third-party developers to integrate Steamworks Monitor information coming from support, sales, and public forums Define ways to make publishing on Steam more efficient and then help implement those improvements Debug game crashes or improper install configurations
Required Qualifications 3+ years experience in build or test management for large software projects Working knowledge and experience in software development and related technologies (e.g. C++/Python/SQL) required 3+ years experience with scripting technologies (PHP/Perl/Python/VBScript) Must be highly technical and have strong analytical skills Experience working within the software development industry - game industry preferred Self-directed and self-motivated Partner and business development experience is highly desirable
